West Indies Expose Pakistan’s Cricketing Flaws Again
PCB needs to review its decision to retain Shan Masood as a captain as well and needs to audit the entire management of PCB and its performance as well. Shan Masood's only achievement was beating England in a home match in a 2-match test series. Shan Masood has either lost the series on a regular basis or the series was drawn under his captaincy. Pakistan is unable to win a major test match, and it is currently ranked number 7 among the top test teams (There are only 10 nations that play test matches, and being ranked no. 7 is a shame for Pakistan cricket).
When Misbah-ul-Haq was captain, Pakistan was ranked No. 1. Coming into the West Indies vs. In Pakistan's second test match, it is not a surprise that West Indies seemed to be winning because Pakistan was and is lacking a proper coach, a proper captain, and proper performance. India, South Africa, England, or Australia are not dumb to spend millions on player fitness and foreign coaches. That is why these teams deliver much-needed performance when it matters.
Currently, Pakistan is 6 out and have only managed to score 111 runs, while the remaining score to get is 146. West Indies in the second innings made a total of 255, and Pakistan seemed likely that they would lose this match, and the series would be a draw, which is not shocking or a surprise, as the entire PCB requires wholesale changes, not just players.
Pakistan has good players. However, since 2023, the likes of Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Shah Masood, Saud Shakeel, Salman Agha, etc., have not been performing up to their standards. That is why Pakistan loses even to modest teams in cricket. Pakistan needs to invest in player development like top performing nations in cricket.
