Pakistan's Exports Reach $2.92B in January 2025

PBS (Pakistan Bureau of Statistics) data shows that Pakistan managed to export around US 2.92 billion dollars for the month of January, and it is back to back that Pakistan has managed to export above US 2.8 billion dollars, and imports for the month of January were US 5.2 billion dollars.

Last time, Pakistan managed to increase exports from September 2021 to April 2022, when Pakistan opened its economy, mainly imports, and it allowed people to invest in properties, cars, and export-oriented sectors, which led to an increase in imports as well, which caused the current account deficit to be more than US 17 billion dollars, which was the main reason Pakistan's currency devalued from 175 PKR to 283 PKR during 2022-2023.

However, now things are different, and Pakistan only imports goods and services which it can self-fund due to friendly countries not being willing to fund Pakistan for luxury imports. Which has forced Pakistan to stand on its feet and manage imports by earning and remittances inflows.

It is highly likely that this time remittances will also be around US 3 billion dollars, and Pakistan will likely witness another current account surplus.

Note: the State Bank of Pakistan imports and exports at times are different, and it is likely that exports are higher than PBS figures and import figures are less than PBS figures.
