NHA Increases Toll Taxes 2nd time in Just 3 Months
The National High Authority (NHA) has again announced that they have increased the prices of toll taxes, which will be effective from 1st April. This is the second time that the National High Authority has increased the fares in just the span of 3 months. The price increase will impact millions of people because it will increase the traveling cost as well as the 1st of April being the 1st or second day of Eid al-Fitr 2025.
Moreover, the price increase of toll taxes suggests that the government does not want to increase taxes on daily items, and they are looking for alternative venues to increase the taxes so that IMF targets of FY25 taxes stay on track and Pakistan does not have any issues with the current IMF program.
The revised taxes and increased taxes will impact cars, vans, buses, and trucks. Noteworthy is that it will also increase the traveling costs for those people, especially those who are traveling on Eid-ul-Fitr to meet their relatives and families. Additionally, the latest increase in taxes will impact M1, M3, M4, M5, M11, and E35. However, transporters showed their concerns regarding toll prices as they said that these measures will affect their financial position, and they will raise the cost of business as well, because the government has also increased taxes on fuel.
According to the NHA official statement and notification, the new toll price will be PKR 70 for cars and vans, the new toll price will be PKR 150, and buses will be PKR 250. Moreover, 2-axle or 3-axle trucks' new toll prices are PKR 250, and large trucks will pay PKR 550.
For the M1 route, the toll price was PKR 500, and now the toll prices are PKR 550. For the M3 (Lahore-Abdul Hakeem) route, the toll prices increased to PKR 800 from PKR 700. Moreover, for the M4 (Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan) route, toll prices increased to PKR 1050 from PKR 950, and M5 (Multan-Sukkur) route prices have increased to PKR 1200 from 1100.
Additionally, M4 (Dera Ismail Khan-Hakla) toll prices have increased to PKR 650 from 600, and E35 (Hasan Abdal-Havelian-Mansehra) route toll prices have increased to PKR 300 from PKR 250.
