Multan Airport Foils Major Smuggling Plot by PIA Crew.
A major smuggling attempt by five PIA crew members was foiled by Multan Airport customs officials. PIA has always been in the news, but it has almost always been bad news and negative news.
Multan Airport's customs officials became suspicious due to two ladies on the crew of PIA when they unearthed that these two women were carrying 24 iPhone devices for smuggling purpose. That official took those two women into their custody, and during interrogation, both of them revealed that three male crew members were also carrying 54 iPhone devices and trying to smuggle them to Dubai.
The media reached out to PIA, and they confirmed that the news was true: they will take disciplinary actions against these employees. However, this is not the first time PIA has said this, and this is not the first time PIA crew has tried to smuggle. It shows the non-serious attitude of the management and how cheap their staff mindset is.
PIA's image is already bad in the international arena, and this further damages whatever image PIA has left. PIA needs to educate their staff and crew; otherwise, they just don't need to operate if this kind of news is going to come on a regular basis. The issue is the mindset, and the wrong people got the job in PIA.
PIA needs to invest in human resource management and needs to fire that person who hired this kind of staff in the first place; otherwise, PIA's image in the international arena will always remain bad or worse.
The flight was PK-222, flight was suppose to travel from Multan to Dubai, and the 78 smuggled iPhones were worth around 5.5 million PKR.
