MG cars formally came to Pakistan in 2020. The MOU was signed between MG JW
Automobiles and SAIC, which is based in China. They launched several varieties of cars, like EV cars and SUV cars, in Pakistan with different models.
The ceremony was held with very high officials, and even former PM Imran Khan attended the ceremony that was held in 2020. There is a split of shares for MG Motors Pakistan. SAIC Motors owns 51% of the holdings, and JW Group Pakistan holds 49% of the holdings for MG Motors Pakistan. MG Motors revealed the MG HS PHEV model, locally assembled by MG Motors in Pakistan, and its price is 98 lacs PKR, but the early bid price is 95 lacs; early bidders are getting a 3 lacs discount. Benefits of Locally Assembling Plug in Hybrid Cars in Pakistan
One of the biggest benefits is that the delivery of cars is on time and demand is met on time. MG states that their promise is that the delivery of the cars is done on time and demand is met on time so that their consumer can have the best experience of the car.
Another advantage is the availability of spare parts and price reduction. One of the biggest issues of imported hybrid cars in Pakistan was that their spare parts were extremely high, and it required a week or 2 weeks to get the car repaired if the part was not available because the dealer had to order the part separately, and, of course, it cost very high.
People will be encouraged to drive plug-in hybrid cars in Pakistan, which will save fuel costs as well as Pakistan foreign reserves because we are seriously facing external financing issues, and our foreign reserves are below the threshold. Therefore, if you have money, then it is better to buy hybrids, locally assembled cars, as it will save your fuel costs as well.
