Honda Atlas To Launch E-Bikes In June 2025
Honda Atlas made a significant move to launch e-bikes around June 2025. This announcement by Honda Atlas could be the biggest game changer for bikes, as Honda Atlas is one of the best bike manufacturers in Pakistan, and people consider them the most reliable bike manufacturer as well. Moreover, Honda Atlas Pakistan is the second-biggest car manufacturer in Pakistan.
The announcement made by Honda Atlas shows their interest and their commitment to continue market dominance as they also export their product to several other countries as they also want to maintain their 85% market share. However, e-bikes are costly in Pakistan, and they have not grabbed the attention that they deserve due to the very few companies that are interested in selling and producing them. Moreover, the price factor is one of the major reasons why many people are avoiding purchasing e-bikes and opting to go with traditional 70cc to 125cc bikes.
It is reported that in 2024, EV bikes will only sell around 1% of the total bikes sold in Pakistan, which is disappointing, and it shows that the price factor is damaging the conversion from traditional bikes to e-bikes. Moreover, even though the government reduces taxes so that people adopt e-bikes at a faster pace, it seems like e-bike adoption and growth are hampered by prices and spare part issues in Pakistan.
However, Honda Atlas's latest move to launch E-bikes could be a game-changer for E-bikes, as Honda Atlas alone manufactures 1.3 million bikes annually, and its goodwill might shift people to E-bikes. Globally, people are opting to buy e-bikes, and it is surging, but not in Pakistan because of the conditions and infrastructure issues, and people in Pakistan are not opting for early adoption. Even in cross-border countries like India and China, sales of e-bikes are on a higher trend, and they are gradually increasing.
Express Tribune Pakistan reports that Honda Atlas's projection is that they will produce 25000 units, and then they will produce around 8000 units annually.
